Skateboarding Victoria

Under a glorious sunny sky and to the soulful sounds of a Didjeridoo on the community stage, we kicked off the fifth heat of the South Eastern Series in Packenham on Sunday. Part two of another big double header weekend was an event not to miss, as the Cardinia Shire Council put on a spread of festivities for all to enjoy from food stalls, games, to amusement rides.

The skate rolled in under musical conditions much like Melbourne’s weather. From John Fogarty, to Blackalicious, to the soothing tones of death metal from the community stage, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Jack Duff put in another stellar effort for the Packenham win, prizes went flying in every direction as the biggest smile award was a 5 way tie. The 12 & Under skaters showed so much skill and so much heart and just get better and better each week. Jay ‘Terry the Jet’ Terrington was impressive utilising the ledge to launch an arsenal of tricks, but theGrand Finale was the race to the finish between old mates and VSL legends Josh Sheerin, Micka Edwards and Jamie Alberti.

Next week we head to Micka’s digs down in Wonthaggi, but after a series of cruel stacks he might be offering wisdom to the youngens from the sidelines. Here’s hoping for a fast recovery for Micka, and a safe journey to all heading down to Wonthaggi this Easter Weekend for the Wonthaggi heat of the SEL.
