Girl Guides Victoria and Skateboarding Victoria are creating new opportunities for girls and young women to become leaders in their local communities through skateboarding.

The Community Skate Coach Scholarship Program will offer 10 fully funded scholarships for Girl Guides, existing leaders and young women connected to local Girl Guide communities to build the skills and confidence to become Community Skate Coaches.

No previous coaching experience is required, and applicants do not need to be expert skateboarders. We are looking for enthusiastic people who are willing to learn and want to create positive opportunities for girls and young women in their community.

Skateboarding Victoria is proud to announce that we are one of 29 game-changing initiatives that will share in more than $7.16 million through the Level the Field 2025–2027 Grant Program.

The Grant Program is delivered by Leisure Networks in partnership with the Victorian Government to help sport and community organisations strengthen and expand job opportunities for people with disability in regional Victoria.

Level the Field aims to increase support for more people with disability to join the sport and recreation workforce in paid and volunteer roles.

Skateboarding Victoria is joining Mornington Peninsula Shire and the local community to celebrate the grand opening of Rye Skate Park.

The free community event will be held on Saturday 22 August 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at Rye Skate Park, 20 Melbourne Road, Rye.

The morning will include two All Aboard beginner skateboarding workshops and Freedom Frames adaptive skateboarding sessions. The activities are designed to give children, young people and adults of different abilities and experience levels a safe, supported way to try the new park.
