The Victorian Skateboard Association Inc. (VSA) is a not-for-profit Incorporated Association; the Victorian State Government recognises the VSA as the State Sporting Association for Skateboarding. Our purpose is to foster, encourage and promote Skateboarding throughout Victoria. The VSA achieves this by partnering with education providers, local governments, businesses, and other organisations to provide opportunities for people to participate in or deliver skateboarding-related events and programs.
The VSA is committed to raising the profile of Skateboarding, increasing participation, and delivering exceptional experiences for the skateboarding community. We accomplish this through the development of resources, networks and policies that assist our partners to deliver skate-related programs and facilities. The VSA provides its members with the industry knowledge and tools to deliver accessible programs and services that increase participation and skills.
The VSA is committed to having a diverse Board that reflects the Victorian community and has the skills, competencies, qualifications, and experience to lead the growth and development of Skateboarding throughout the State.
A skills-based board of elected and appointed directors leads the VSA. The Board’s role encompasses the governance of the organisation and providing strategic leadership and oversight. The VSA strives to support and promote excellence in board service through the recruitment of qualified, experienced directors from diverse backgrounds. Our directors are advocates for best practice, innovation and fiscal responsibility. They question and challenge constructively and respectfully, bring differing views, can influence others and find solutions. The VSA is committed to having a collaborative, diverse and inclusive culture on our Board, in our organisation and in our sport.
The VSA is currently reviewing its existing business model (including operational and governance functions) with the view to re-write its Constitution and develop a new long-term strategic plan, operational programs, and services. As such, the positions will be hands-on with Executive meetings being held 12 times per year, mainly via Teams with 3 to 4 face-to-face meetings per year to coincide with critical events or workshops.
Directors’ positions are voluntary.
