Round 1 of the 4th annual South Western Regional Series kicked off at the Torquay Skate Park on Saturday 30th.
The skateboard heats were chockers with local talent and travellers! Kostya Vallance opened his 2016 account with an emphatic victory in the 12’s alongside Johnno Halchenko who was dominant in the 16’s and one of only a few who dared to hit the rail living up to his name the “Rail Smasher” Local legend and self-proclaimed Mayor of Torquay Jesse Abrahams looked untouchable taking out the Open Male heats, but it was the Open Gals whom stole the show in arguably the best open female heat In a long while. Mia Vitkus killed this heat with her massive B/S 180 Nose Grabs & F/S Nuggets to take top points! Lili Vitkus & Frankie Cluffetilli both rocked a deadly Kick-Flip and couldn’t be split coming in equal 2nd whilst Emily Palmer tore the transition to shreds to come in a close 3rd. Big thanks to Jarrod Zdrzalka from Surf Coast Youth Services, Dylan Connel Geelong City Council, Blunt Skate Shop & the rad vollys whom helped out on the day!
