Could you help shape what’s next for skateboarding in your community?
Skateboarding Victoria is looking for the next generation of local leaders who want to make a difference through skateboarding.
Local Legends is a new initiative focused on investing in people, ideas and local communities. We’re starting in Colac Otway, Ballarat and surrounding areas, and we want to hear from people who see an opportunity to do more.
Maybe you’ve thought about
- Becoming a skateboard coach
- Running lessons or school holiday programs
- Organising competitions or community events
- Starting or growing a skateboarding business
- Creating opportunities for girls, young people or other parts of your community
- Establishing a local skate group or club
- Becoming the person who helps bring everyone together at your local skatepark
Or maybe you’ve got a completely different idea. We want to hear it.
You don’t need to have everything figured out
Local Legends isn’t a traditional grant or sporting program. It’s about finding passionate local people and helping them develop the skills, connections and opportunities to turn good ideas into something sustainable.
Selected Local Legends will work with Skateboarding Victoria to develop a simple plan based around what they want to achieve. Support could include training, mentoring, resources, connections, program opportunities and, where appropriate, practical or financial support to help get an idea moving.
We’re not looking for the best skateboarders. We’re looking for people who want to make skateboarding better in their community.
Think you could be a Local Legend?
Tell us who you are, what’s happening in your local skate community and what you’d like to make happen. Big idea or small start—we want to hear from you.
